HEBRON (Ma'an) -- Israeli authorities handed demolition orders on Monday for four homes and a solar panel in a south Hebron village, official media said.

Popular committee spokesman Rateb Jabour told PA news agency Wafa that the orders were given to four members of the Abu Jundiya family in Tuba village.

They warn of Israel's intention to demolish a solar and wind power system used by the village for electricity, as well as four residential tents, he said.

Italian peace group Operation Dove said the orders, which demand residents stop work on all structures as a first step towards their demolition, affect 20 people in the village. Residents must appeal before July 9, the group said.

On Tuesday, Israeli forces handed nearby Susiya village demolition orders for each of its 50 buildings, including their renewable energy system, a week after Israeli authorities agreed to halt all construction in the area in response to a petition filed by settler group Regavim.

International law experts say that under the Fourth Geneva Convention Israel must provide for the needs of the occupied Palestinian population, and are prohibited from demolishing any structure that has a civilian purpose.
